'OPO

‘OPO Randy Oda, Michael Politeau, Kevin Oda
`OPO - (Hawaiian): To lay a foundation, like one of ROCK
"It's been over 25years...It's about time we wrote and recorded some music together again." This was the genesis conversation between Randy Oda and Michael Politeau at a local restaurant in the S.F. Bay Area. They decided that they would play (nearly) all the instruments themselves and, depending on what the song called for, have different singers on the songs. It didn't take long before they realized they needed technical help (not to mention a drummer). So, they enlisted Kevin Oda, Randy's brother. A fantastic drummer who definitely knows his way around the studio.
With the encouragement of their friends and fans, what started out as a songwriting project has now become a new CD recording. Randy, Michael and Kevin approached this project totally from a songwriter’s perspective giving them more freedom in the studio to experiment. "We let the songs determine the direction of the CD, with no preconceived idea as to the style of music."
Randy, Michael and Kevin previously played in the popular Bay Area band, "ODA". ODA was a powerhouse original rock band who wrote and performed their "Power of Love" album in many local venues. ODA developed a very strong fan base and their MTV video "POWER OF LOVE" received worldwide recognition.

Freddie Landau

FRED LANDAU is a member of BMI who has worked mainly in musical theater but also writes pop music and popular YouTube parodies. His work from the in-progress musical ACROSS STATE LINES got him a Finalist slot in the Fall 2010 Fred Ebb Award competition for theater writing. He wrote the book for THE LAST STARFIGHTER (Storm Theatre); and book & score for THE HAPPIEST OF TIMES (Triangle Theater, workshops at BMI, ASCAP and Circle Rep). Fred was a featured speaker at Seattle’s Village Theatre on the Movies to Musicals trend. His YouTube parody work was excerpted on CNN (American Morning, AC360, Situation Room). In praising Fred’s work on THE HAPPIEST OF TIMES at ASCAP, critic/theater historian Martin Gottfried said the work "was defined by the invention of its creators. It sounded like itself and like nothing else… They invented their own language for musical theater and it had nothing to do with anything else that I’ve seen, really, in term of musical theater."

Hilary Landau

Music and lyrics by Hilary Landau. Recordings arranged by David Lawrence. Lead vocal on Breezy Morning: Adam Minkoff. Lead vocals on Fire in the Belly and on Strongback Lady (Hey Jo): Sean Pearson.

JUN BUG

Jun Bug is a southern rapper with a worldwide appeal. Born in Thomasville, GA, near the Stateline, the rapper, songwriter and singer began performing at the tender age of five.
Family and friends quickly took notice of Jun Bug’s ability to write and perform music while he was very young. "I started out singing R&B as a child and as I got older I got inspired by legendary rap groups like NWA," states Jun Bug. But it was Bone Thug’s N Harmony (Founded by NWA’s founder Easy E), that really influenced the type of artist that Jun Bug would aspire to be. "At that point, I saw that you didn’t lose street credibility by singing and rapping," says Jun Bug.
As a child, Jun Bug used music as his soul’s escapism from the pressures of his young life including the loss of his mother. As the streets would have it Jun Bug ended up serving seven years in and out of jail and eight years on parole. During this time, he never lost his passion for music. While on parole he seriously began pursuing his music career. With the direction of a family friend his music was placed in the hands of the execs at Helium 4 Music in Atlanta, GA, where he quickly became a priority. Jun Bug’s style is original blues/R&B/and hip-hop.

Garth Adam

Garth Adam is no stranger to the DIY music scene with his seventh solo release the 3 track EP 'Travelling' Garth’s music is a mixture of his influences and life. Born in the UK, he spent his early childhood in Africa and Fiji before his family settled in Australia where he eventually worked his way as a songwriting bass player through a variety of Australian bands. Once Garth began to write and independently record his signature brand of melodic and rhythmically-driven songs, several found their way to a respectable amount of airplay on indie radio. Garth was a Finalist in the 2009 International Songwriting Competition for his song 'The Boat' and also a finalist in the E Song Competition in 2010 for the song 'The Distance'. Garth's songs are not too lo-fi that you wonder if your stereo or ipod battery is trashed, yet not too teeth- achingly over-polished either. Place the Foo Fighters, Crowded House and Damien Rice in a blender and you will get an idea of the range of styles on Garth Adam releases. Travelling was recorded at Linear Recording in Sydney and produced by Melvin Tree. Mastering was by Kathy Naunton at Db Mastering Camperdown Sydney.

Rhett May

Rhett May owes his rare musical sound and style to the unique environment that he grew up in. Born in 1950, in Calcutta, India, he was immediately immersed in a magical, musical melting pot. Carnatic and Hindustani music and instruments such as the Sitar and Tabla were always providing melody and percussion against a daily backdrop of lifting and soaring voices of Ragas. Ragas especially played a vital part of Rhett's musical experience with their series of five or more musical notes forming melody. However, this environment of classical Indian music wasn't the only sounds floating about Calcutta in the nineteen-fifties and nineteen sixties. By the time Rhett had begun boarding school in the Himalayan foothills; western music had also begun an invasion. The cinemas featured musical movies from The Monkees, Cream, or Jimi Hendrix. Elvis and Ricky Nelson's pop also pulsated through the airwaves.

John & Richie

hip retro funk, fine-honed through hours of researching the great legacy of 70’s Cop Show Grooves and Spy Thriller Themes.

A chance meeting brought John & Richie together. Not in their original England, but in Sydney Australia their new homeland. For this their first CD together, John & Richie’s musical quest was to fill a void. They identified a need to fill the vacuum in people’s imagination where dancing would break out to imaginary music (an actual affliction known as Tarantismus.) The result of John & Richie’s quest? An infectious and multisonous hip retro funk, fine-honed through hours of researching the great legacy of 70’s cop show grooves. In recent years they have been commissioned to produce work for global names such as Nike, Williams Formula 1, British Tourist Authority, Diesel Apparel, Nissan, BBC and George Martin. So prepare for "Double Agent"... A kevlar-piercing bullet of funk with a few surprises thrown in for good measure. This is a mouth watering musical mezé of cop show funk, spy movie themes and motivational influences from a unique period.

Chris Ferguson
Singer/Songwriter Chris Ferguson is proud to announce the release of his first solo effort, Awkward Silences. A collection of personal stories from the last decade, Awkward Silences is a CD with catchy hooks and memorable melodies combined with smart and introspective lyrics. The CD is being released independently and available through most major online distribution channels.
A Philadelphia-area native and veteran of the East coast bar band scene, Chris migrated West to California a little over 10 years ago, and the change in coastlines brought about a maelstrom of changes in life and living that inspired these songs. All of this also brought about a musical transformation - a desire for a musical platform that was more lyrically-focused and demands that the listener actually hears every word.
Chris is currently regularly playing in and around Orange County, California in support of the CD, as well as appearing on podcasts and internet radio to promote it. Early feedback on the CD has been stellar, and he is working hard to continue to spread the word.

Jocelyn

Jocelyn's appeal is not just in her ability to sing and play instruments, but also in her ability to create seductive melodies and evoking lyrics in Spanish and English. Her warm and intimate vocals accompanied by the sounds of piano and acoustic guitar.
Jocelyn was born in San Juan, Puerto Rico where she began her musical escapade at the ripe age of 10. Later, she pursued a degree in Psychology and Music where she was able to mesh the two fields in her songwriting.

Paul Goodwin

Paul Goodwin grew up in London but lives in Cambridge now. He's spent the last 10 years or so dragging his guitar around the rail network and on the odd plane, playing his quietly heartbreaking songs anywhere that would have him, to anyone who would listen, and quite a few people that wouldn't. His music has taken him all over the UK as well as to Canada, France and America and he's played alongside acts ranging from Alessi's Ark to Waterson:Carthy to Wayne Hussey. His painstakingly produced first album, Scars came out in 2009 and the follow up mini-album Trinkets and Offcuts is released in summer 2011. He also made several EPs and had an acoustic CD on pioneering internet record label Burning Shed.
Paul Goodwin's debut album 'Scars', nine years in the making, was released in 2009 to modest critical acclaim, and this, the follow up mini-album, 'Trinkets and Offcuts', is to be released in August 2011.
'Trinkets...' is far more than its modest title suggests, a short but diverse and rewarding album which subtly expands on the themes and sonic palette of 'Scars', to great effect.
Opening with the punchy, confrontational 'This Place Is Dead Anyway', which brings to mind the ghost of Phil Ochs sparring with a heartbroken Billy Bragg, the album traces a discernable trajectory of resistance and resolve amidst the desolated observational writing that will be familiar to fans of 'Scars'.
Amongst many highlights are the funny, warm 'The Ghost Of Paddy's Night Past', the brilliantly described, deeply personal dialogues of the resigned 'Nothing To Say' and the terse 'Ball & Chain', but it's hard to pick a favourite from this exceptionally consistent and lovingly crafted record.

Williamsboy
Matt Williams (pka) Williamsboy has recently signed a 3 album deal with the independent record label Working Dog Records out of New Hope, PA. This singer/songwriter has all the ingredients to be the next Springsteen! The brand new album, titled "Analog," was released on June 25th at For The Music Only, a small intimate house concert venue that plays host to admired national acts such as Alejandro Escavado- with whom Williamsboy had opened up for at an earlier performance. Analog is a record that is filled with Americana sentiments long forgotten in the digital pop arena of the music business today, however lovers of country, Americana, and good ol’ fashioned heartland American rock and roll will find comfort to hear that this music is not only still around, but is being brought to the forefront with vigor and guts.
The name the WILLIAMSBOY is a direct reflection of a family on the move, and the stigma of being on welfare. Whenever something was wrong, missing, or troubled in the neighborhood, I always heard, "must be that Williamsboy." It stuck, first as kind of an epithet, but now, it’s a more of a badge of honor. I first touched a guitar when I was 6, I recall. It was in a closet at my grand mom’s house. I had my fun with it for about a month or two. No one in the house knew how to play the thing so I had to figure it out on my own. Like most everything else, I guess. So, I would listen to my older brother’s garage band through the woodwork and try to find notes they were playing. Eventually I was playing along to the country radio stations.

Brandon Christopher

Brandon Christopher is a North Carolina native born on July 5th. Since the age of 3 years old, he sang with the church choir and has played the piano. He also served as Music Minister/Director for his church. Brandon always had a passion to sing and now with the release of his newest single, "Reach Out To You", audiences will be able to experience the wonder that is Brandon Christopher. "Reach Out To You" was written after learning about the devastation in Japan. As he watched the media, he began to drift into a state of grief and became a bit saddened by the turmoil that the Japanese were facing. He said a prayer and said, "God, reach out and heal the brokenness of your people in this moment of crisis". What Brandon was looking for was validation of his pain by others looking for comfort from someone who would 'reach out' to him. This single was more than just a single. It was a calling to those who could help to mend those who were broken. This song has a beautiful melody to it with glorious vocals.
The lyrics take you through the timeline of the tragic events in Japan. If you view the video at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JsOvRqJQ7qU the reality of the situation will strike you like a bolt of lightning. It is emotional, dramatic and provokes deep thought.
What is unique about Brandon Christopher as a singer is the level of involvement in the creation of his music. He writes with relevance and to stay in tune with his audience worldwide. He has the ability to bridges ages and races, communities and social networks of the commonality that we have in all of us.

Erica Lane

Picture a classically trained singer/songwriter fusing contemporary pop with sweeping ballads and romantic orchestral impressions, and you get Erica Lane. Her early influences range from Keith Green to Sarah Brightman, and her songs reveal a poetic expression of faith and vulnerabilities.
Lane's ability to arrange choral and extended vocal works in her compositions not only stems from her degree in music education but also from an experience that took her to England as a singer in the Texas Tech University Choir, which was selected as the US representative at the British Choral Convention. This cathedral tour gave Lane an insight on mixing excellence in tradition with modern originality.
A former Miss Houston, Erica has been featured at Johnny High's Country Music Review, Ruth Graham and Friends at Billy Graham's Cove, opened for George Lopez at the Moondance Awards Gala in Beverly Hills, and recurring as a special music guest at The Promise at the Texas Amphitheater.
With two independent albums under her belt, one of which is a Christmas collection, Lane has toured across the US and Canada for the last four years. During that time, she starred in a family friendly reality TV series, Inspired Ambition, syndicated on national networks in the US, Canada, Africa, Estonia, Finland, Poland, Romania, India, and others. The DVD box set is distributed in Lifeway Stores by Cloud Ten/E1 Entertainment.
