![]() hip retro funk, fine-honed through hours of researching the great legacy of 70’s Cop Show Grooves and Spy Thriller Themes. A chance meeting brought John & Richie together. Not in their original England, but in Sydney Australia their new homeland. For this their first CD together, John & Richie’s musical quest was to fill a void. They identified a need to fill the vacuum in people’s imagination where dancing would break out to imaginary music (an actual affliction known as Tarantismus.) The result of John & Richie’s quest? An infectious and multisonous hip retro funk, fine-honed through hours of researching the great legacy of 70’s cop show grooves. In recent years they have been commissioned to produce work for global names such as Nike, Williams Formula 1, British Tourist Authority, Diesel Apparel, Nissan, BBC and George Martin. So prepare for "Double Agent"... A kevlar-piercing bullet of funk with a few surprises thrown in for good measure. This is a mouth watering musical mezé of cop show funk, spy movie themes and motivational influences from a unique period. Chris Ferguson
![]() A Philadelphia-area native and veteran of the East coast bar band scene, Chris migrated West to California a little over 10 years ago, and the change in coastlines brought about a maelstrom of changes in life and living that inspired these songs. All of this also brought about a musical transformation - a desire for a musical platform that was more lyrically-focused and demands that the listener actually hears every word. Chris is currently regularly playing in and around Orange County, California in support of the CD, as well as appearing on podcasts and internet radio to promote it. Early feedback on the CD has been stellar, and he is working hard to continue to spread the word. Paul Goodwin ![]() Paul Goodwin grew up in London but lives in Cambridge now. He's spent the last 10 years or so dragging his guitar around the rail network and on the odd plane, playing his quietly heartbreaking songs anywhere that would have him, to anyone who would listen, and quite a few people that wouldn't. His music has taken him all over the UK as well as to Canada, France and America and he's played alongside acts ranging from Alessi's Ark to Waterson:Carthy to Wayne Hussey. His painstakingly produced first album, Scars came out in 2009 and the follow up mini-album Trinkets and Offcuts is released in summer 2011. He also made several EPs and had an acoustic CD on pioneering internet record label Burning Shed. Paul Goodwin's debut album 'Scars', nine years in the making, was released in 2009 to modest critical acclaim, and this, the follow up mini-album, 'Trinkets and Offcuts', is to be released in August 2011. 'Trinkets...' is far more than its modest title suggests, a short but diverse and rewarding album which subtly expands on the themes and sonic palette of 'Scars', to great effect. Opening with the punchy, confrontational 'This Place Is Dead Anyway', which brings to mind the ghost of Phil Ochs sparring with a heartbroken Billy Bragg, the album traces a discernable trajectory of resistance and resolve amidst the desolated observational writing that will be familiar to fans of 'Scars'. Amongst many highlights are the funny, warm 'The Ghost Of Paddy's Night Past', the brilliantly described, deeply personal dialogues of the resigned 'Nothing To Say' and the terse 'Ball & Chain', but it's hard to pick a favourite from this exceptionally consistent and lovingly crafted record. Williamsboy
![]() The name the WILLIAMSBOY is a direct reflection of a family on the move, and the stigma of being on welfare. Whenever something was wrong, missing, or troubled in the neighborhood, I always heard, "must be that Williamsboy." It stuck, first as kind of an epithet, but now, it’s a more of a badge of honor. I first touched a guitar when I was 6, I recall. It was in a closet at my grand mom’s house. I had my fun with it for about a month or two. No one in the house knew how to play the thing so I had to figure it out on my own. Like most everything else, I guess. So, I would listen to my older brother’s garage band through the woodwork and try to find notes they were playing. Eventually I was playing along to the country radio stations. Brandon Christopher ![]() The lyrics take you through the timeline of the tragic events in Japan. If you view the video at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JsOvRqJQ7qU the reality of the situation will strike you like a bolt of lightning. It is emotional, dramatic and provokes deep thought. What is unique about Brandon Christopher as a singer is the level of involvement in the creation of his music. He writes with relevance and to stay in tune with his audience worldwide. He has the ability to bridges ages and races, communities and social networks of the commonality that we have in all of us. Erica Lane ![]() Picture a classically trained singer/songwriter fusing contemporary pop with sweeping ballads and romantic orchestral impressions, and you get Erica Lane. Her early influences range from Keith Green to Sarah Brightman, and her songs reveal a poetic expression of faith and vulnerabilities. Lane's ability to arrange choral and extended vocal works in her compositions not only stems from her degree in music education but also from an experience that took her to England as a singer in the Texas Tech University Choir, which was selected as the US representative at the British Choral Convention. This cathedral tour gave Lane an insight on mixing excellence in tradition with modern originality. A former Miss Houston, Erica has been featured at Johnny High's Country Music Review, Ruth Graham and Friends at Billy Graham's Cove, opened for George Lopez at the Moondance Awards Gala in Beverly Hills, and recurring as a special music guest at The Promise at the Texas Amphitheater. With two independent albums under her belt, one of which is a Christmas collection, Lane has toured across the US and Canada for the last four years. During that time, she starred in a family friendly reality TV series, Inspired Ambition, syndicated on national networks in the US, Canada, Africa, Estonia, Finland, Poland, Romania, India, and others. The DVD box set is distributed in Lifeway Stores by Cloud Ten/E1 Entertainment. Paul Kloschinsky ![]() ![]() Editor's Note: This Renaissance Man should not be overlooked!
